Year 8

Year 8 STEM & Product Design
Year 8 design for Disability Project
This year in year 8 we focused on making spoons that could change from a typical spoon, and could adapt to a number of disabilities that make it hard to pick up and use a spoon. We used the design thinking process and to understand why people need these spoons and how we could help them with our designs. The year 8s used tinker-cad, a web based 3d modelling website to help us build the prototype. Each time we changed our design, we recorded it in our design modification table. This helped us 3 D print our overall end prototype. We also inputted the requirements into an A.I chatbot and it designed a spoon that had many similar features to the ones we made.

Upsize It !
8D Art
8D has been working on a sculpture unit in Art called Upsize It! Working in groups and following the design process (EXPLORE, DEVELOP, CREATE and PRESENT) students have upsized small items of their choice using wire, modroc, paper-mache, cardboard and paint.
Amongst the student designs are a large make-up set, a hot chocolate mug with melting marshmallow, a giant ladybug, hot chips from the footy, a digital camera, an m&m and an AirPod with its case.
The winners for top 3 outcomes will be announced next Term.
