Year 9 Morrisby ‘unpacking’ Sessions
On Wednesday 25th March and Thursday 26th March, Year 9 students took part in a Morrisby ‘unpacking’ class. Three members of staff from the Australian Centre for Careers Education-ACCE (Lauren Chonka, Jenny Banks, Carol McCaskie) ran the sessions with myself and Barbora roaming the classroom helping students. We thank the staff from ACCE for their time and dedication to ensuring our students had a positive experience.
Students were guided on how to interpret their Morrisby Profile, with a focus on understanding their aptitude results, interests, work styles, and how their personality type influences the way they approach life. Initially the sessions started off quiet, however, the moment students began reflecting on their Morrisby report, a lively buzz of chatter and curiosity spread across the room.
Students are encouraged to take a deeper dive into their Morrisby Profile by researching their career suggestions/training options and view occupational videos. The more students understand themselves and what they like, the easier it will be to make decisions during subject selection and the senior school pathway they wish to take.
Students were reminded that they have LIFETIME access to their Morrisby account, as long as they activate it at least once every five years. Whilst the ‘aptitude’ assessment cannot be retaken until next year, students are able to retake the ‘interests & ‘personality’ at any time.
The successful delivery of the Morrisby Program would not be possible without the support from other staff at the College. I would like to thank the following people who contributed to the program’s success - Jean-michel Seago, Yiota Athanasiou, Rachel Liu, Brian Yong, Andrew Steele, Barbora Kosikova, Tracy White, Daniel Ye, Brendan Ariens.
Work Experience at Parliament of Victoria
Milan Stevanovic, in Year 10, undertook Work Experience at Parliament of Vitoria on 16th-20th March 2026. From the beginning, Milan showed such enthusiasm for this placement. He proactively secured the placement and consulted with the employer and the school so that he could ensure he was ready to take part in this experience.
Milan’s commitment and interest shone through whilst on placement. The employer feedback he received was exceptional. Well done Milan, you did yourself and our school community proud! We are happy to share some of the employer’s feedback below.
| Question | Employer’s Response |
| Attitude to and interest in work | “Can I score this higher than what’s available?” It was clear from the first day that Milan had undertaken significant personal research prior to this placement. At the end of the week when he took some family members on a tour I was astonished at how much detail had absorbed! It was genuinely impressive” |
| Punctual | Milan was on time every day and was never late back from a break |
| Does student show aptitude for this type of work? | “Probably more so than any other student I have mentored in the five years I’ve been here” |
| Have you any further comments | “Milan is a credit to his school and his family. I will remember him with great fondness, and he has left behind some pretty enormous work experience shoes to fill” |
Milan wrote a reflection piece about his experience at Parliament of Victoria which was published in their newsletter. Please click the link below to read Milan’s reflection piece and view some great photos.
