PROESSIONAL LEARNING IN MATHEMATICS 

Our Early Career Teachers have had the opportunity to meet with Mr Tim Unwin from the Catholic Schools Office in Armidale who visited our school last Monday.

Mr Unwin is the Subject Matter Expert for Mathematics and worked with our teachers to discuss future planning for the school, resources available and how to best utilise the “third teacher”. The third teacher is a dedicated wall in the classroom where relevant information regarding mathematics or other subject areas is placed for students to refer to as they engage in lessons. Mr Unwin went on to model a lesson in 1 V demonstrating how effective the third teacher is for a child’s learning.

NEW SPORT REPRESENTATIVE SHIRTS

Students who attended the Diocesan Swimming Carnival and Winter Trials earlier this term

 were the first to don our new representative shirts. Any student representing St Francis Xavier’s at Diocesan events will wear these shirts with a sense of great pride for our school.
