Supporting Indigenous Literacy

Thank you to the many families who have been able to donate a pre-loved book to their child’s classroom to help stock the SRC’s Book Bazaar, to be held on Wednesday June 10th, in support of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. We are aiming to have enough suitable books for every child in the school, if they wish, to buy a book for a gold coin (that’s 268 books!!). All money raised will go directly to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation to support their impactful work with remote indigenous communities.
The Indigenous Literacy Foundation, a national charity of the Australian Book Industry, provides culturally meaningful books to remote indigenous communities to help children connect with the joy of reading. Additionally, they publish books in indigenous languages so these children can learn about and preserve their culture by reading books written in or translated into their first language.
Book donations for the Bazaar are still being accepted!
Thank you again for your generous donations!!
The 2026 Victorian Premiers Reading Challenge has been embraced by students at St Cecilia’s, with 51 students already adding books to their challenge lists! Together, these students have already read an amazing 589 books!
