I Use Respectful Language
Our High Needs and Primary students have made a fantastic start to our new focus! 🌟
Students have been working hard on using an appropriate tone when speaking to others, choosing kind and respectful words, and waiting patiently for their turn when others are speaking.
It has been wonderful to see students putting these skills into practice and showing respect and consideration towards others. Keep up the great work! 👏

Our Secondary students have been showing fantastic respect to others by listening carefully when others are speaking and engaging in healthy, positive conversations. 🌟

Week 5 SWPBS Award Recipients
Many of our recipients were absent from assembly, however, here are two of our students who received their awards on Friday! 🏆👏
Both students were recognised for demonstrating “I Use Respectful Language.” 🌟
Our Secondary students are also working hard on developing respectful communication skills. It has been wonderful to see many positive conversations, respectful listening, and students valuing the opinions of others as they continue to focus on “I Respect and Listen to the Opinions of Others.” 💙.

We are so proud of Chase! In the classroom, Chase was a fantastic helper, alerting staff when he noticed that another student needed assistance.
It was wonderful to see Chase showing such care, kindness and consideration towards others. 💙👏

Police Visit
Students from our Special Education Red, Yellow and Blue Rooms, and Teddy the Therapy dog, had a fantastic time welcoming Victoria Police to our school on Tuesday 18 September!
Our students learnt about the important work police do in our community and the equipment they use to keep people safe. They had the exciting opportunity to explore three different police vehicles, including a divisional “Divvy” van and a Highway Patrol vehicle.
There were plenty of smiles and excitement as students got to beep the horn, turn on the siren and even “use” the radar gun!
A huge thank you to Officers Andrew, David and Stacey for spending time with our students and making the visit such a fun and memorable experience. We truly appreciate you sharing your knowledge and giving our students such a wonderful hands-on learning opportunity!
Blue Room Report
This term, our Blue Room students have made wonderful progress in developing confidence, independence and a positive sense of belonging within the classroom environment. Students have settled more readily than in previous terms and are increasingly demonstrating enthusiasm and confidence as they engage with familiar classroom routines, learning experiences and their peers.
A particular strength this term has been the students’ growing creativity and engagement in learning. Through fine motor experiences, students have explored a range of materials and activities, developing coordination, concentration and problem-solving skills. Role play has also provided valuable opportunities for students to use their imagination, communicate with others and explore different social situations in meaningful and purposeful ways.
Students continue to develop their language and communication skills, with increasing confidence in expressing their needs, ideas and emotions. Supported interactions with peers and adults are helping students to build positive relationships and develop strategies for communicating and managing emotions safely and respectfully.
Lastly, we are celebrating significant success with transitions. Students are becoming increasingly familiar with moving between activities, learning spaces and routines, with many transitions now occurring smoothly and with greater independence. These great achievements reflect the students’ growing understanding of classroom expectations and their ability to participate successfully within a predictable and supportive learning environment.
Red Room Report
Our Red Room students have been learning about Koalas and other Australian Animals in Inquiry with the goal of presenting what they have learn during Assembly.
Students worked hard in class to practise their presentations before sharing them with their peers at assembly. They rehearsed their speaking, practised remembering their facts and supported one another as they prepared.
A key part of their learning was developing confidence when speaking into a microphone. Students had opportunities to practise using a clear, loud voice and becoming comfortable speaking in front of an audience.
At assembly, students proudly shared a fact they had learnt about koalas with their peers. It was wonderful to see their confidence as they stood in front of the group and presented their learning. We were very proud of the effort and preparation they put into their presentations!

RDA Program 🐴
Each fortnight, a group of Special Education students, ranging from our High Needs classrooms through to our SM class, participate in the local RDA program.
Riding: Students develop strength, coordination and confidence through structured group riding sessions.
Groundwork: Students build trust and communication skills while working alongside their horses through a range of non-riding activities.
Students also enjoy learning how to groom their horses and continue to develop their riding skills as they work around the circuit and complete different activities. They also absolutely love visiting their nominated horse each fortnight and look forward to their RDA sessions!
Attendance Competition
We are excited to announce that Omnia has generously funded Gnarly Neighbours to deliver 10 periods over two days of skateboarding sessions at our school.
To make the most of this opportunity, we have decided to run an an attendance competition for all classes and Home Groups. The 10 classes with the highest attendance, measured from this week through to the end of Week 8, will each receive a Gnarly Neighbours skateboarding session on either Tuesday 8 September or Wednesday 9 September (Week 9).
This initiative has created some excitement, while also recognising and reinforcing the importance of regular school attendance across our school community.
