Dear Families,

At the School Closure Day on Friday 5th June, staff spent time exploring the vision, mission and charism of St Joseph's Sorrento and Our Lady of Fatima Rosebud as schools in the new Southern Peninsula Mission including the three parishes. Our school vision of an engaged learning community, contributing to the common good of all, reflects the qualities of our patron saint, St Joseph. Joseph was a committed person to his roles of father, husband, protector, guide and servant who cared deeply for others.

Welcome

A big welcome to the Seyford Family: Luca (Prep), Connor (Year Two) and Raphael (Year Three), Jaide and Daniel who have joined us at St Joseph's. We hope they enjoy being part of our wonderful community.

St Joseph's Big Freeze Event

Thank you everyone for supporting the MND cause. Thank you Alex for suggesting we participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge. We raised $200. With the rain arriving in the midst of the afternoon, it was like the whole school participated in being wet and cold. It was extremely uncomfortable but not as uncomfortable as living with the insidious disease.

Building Project Update

We are on track to move back into the Prep and Year 1/2 Learning Spaces over the holidays. At the beginning of next term there will only be one valet point for drop off and pick ups and all student will be in their original learning spaces. Temporary toilets will also be removed. The builders will continue with building the new multi-purpose space. Please check out our refurbished spaces, grab a coffee  and catch up with some other parents on Monday 13th July.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.

The Chickens over the holidays

Our chickens seem very happy and are laying six eggs every day at the moment.   We are looking for families who are keen to look after the chickens over the holidays. The chicken duties include collecting (and keeping) the eggs each day, letting the hens out for a couple of hours each day, checking their water and food and locking them up each afternoon. If you are keen to assist, please email me with the days you would like.
