Understanding Your Child’s School Report with nForma

As we approach report time, we want to support families in understanding your child’s report. Student reports provide valuable information about your child’s learning progress, achievements and next steps for improvement. At our school, reports are created using nForma, designed to give families a clear picture of student learning across all curriculum areas.

Your child’s report includes teacher comments, achievement levels based on the Victorian Curriculum, learning behaviours and areas for future growth. The achievement scale shows how your child is progressing against the expected standards for their year level. It is important to remember that students develop at different rates and reports reflect both achievement and individual growth over time.

What the 5-Point Scale Means

1 – Not Yet Evident The student is beginning to explore this area of learning but is not yet demonstrating understanding.                                                                                                                       Students require significant support and are still developing foundational skills.

2 – Emerging (Approaching the Expected Standard) The student is learning to apply new skills and concepts with support. Students are beginning to build understanding and show early signs of progress.

3 – At Standard (At the Expected Level) The student consistently and accurately demonstrates the expected skills in familiar situations. This is the level most students will be achieving.

4 – Above Standard (Proficient) The student independently and accurately applies their learning to new or more complex situations. Students show flexible thinking, deeper understanding, and confidence when challenged.

5 – Extending (Approaching the Next Standard) The student demonstrates mastery of the standard and is ready for further extension. Students apply skills in unfamiliar contexts and show advanced, exemplary understanding.

Families can access reports securely through the nForma parent portal. Once reports are released, parents and carers can log in to view, download or print a copy of their child’s report at any time. If you experience difficulties accessing nForma, please contact the school office for support.

We encourage families to read the report together with their child and celebrate successes while also discussing future learning goals. Student reports are one way we strengthen the partnership between home and school to support every child’s learning journey.

Kind regards
