Kingston Arts 'Artz Blitz' Winner

Congratulations to Year 9 student Malek Marouff who was recently crowned the winner of the Kingston Arts 'Artz Blitz' Visual Arts category for his work titled "Where the Monsters Can’t Get Me".

Artz Blitz is an annual 24-hour creative writing and visual arts competition that invites participants of all ages and abilities to dive into a vibrant celebration of artistic expression. Participants raced against the clock to make and submit a creative work based on a secret theme in a 24-hour window. This year's theme was: Make believe.

Sometimes the world feels too loud, too fast, and too hard to understand. In this piece, the fort becomes a place of safety where imagination blocks out fear, pressure, and noise. The creatures and colours represent comfort, creativity, and the small world I create for myself when everything outside feels overwhelming.
