The Maths Talent Quest (MTQ) ran again this year at our school with a large number of students involved.

The Maths Talent Quest is an excellent opportunity for students to complete a project where they are exploring Maths in real world situations. Students had the opportunity to participate and select their own investigation topic based on their personal learning interests and apply mathematics in context.

Our school had 24 students involved across 18 entries.

  • High Distinction – 1 student
  • Distinction – 10 students / 8 entries
  • Credit – 3 students / 3 entries
  • Encouragement – 10 students / 6 entries
  •

Congratulations to Matilda Tran who received a High Distinction and will attended the MTQ Award Ceremony at the University of Melbourne on Monday 27th October.

All students that received a Credit, Distinction and encouragement will receive a certificate at assembly in the coming weeks.

We are very proud of all the students who entered the MTQ this year and look forward to seeing their creativity in their projects again next year.

Throughout this year we have had a group of Year 3 and 4 students who have been involved in the Maths Explorer Program as part of our Students Excellence Program.

The Maths Explorer Program allows students to collaborate with their peers and work together to make decisions about the way they explore a problem. The primary focus of this program is to build students’ confidence and allow them to develop their skills in a non-competitive environment. It uses fun and relatable themes to showcase how problem solving strategies can be applied to a variety of problems and encourages students to work together to expand their knowledge and understanding.

The students have now completed the program and have had a lot of fun being involved.
