Child Safety Officer 

At Leighland, we are committed to National Child Safe Standard 3: Families and communities are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing. This standard reminds us that keeping children safe is a shared responsibility between schools, families, and the wider community.

As a Christian school, we believe that every child is precious to God and deserves to be treated with dignity, care, and respect. Jesus demonstrated His deep love for children when He said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14). We are committed to creating an environment where children feel safe, valued, and heard.

Current child safety guidance highlights the importance of children having trusted adults who will listen and support them. Parents and carers can play an important role by regularly talking with their children about their day, friendships, online experiences, and any worries they may have. These everyday conversations help build trust and encourage children to seek help when they need it.

You can support your child's safety and wellbeing by:

• Making time for regular conversations and listening without judgement.

• Encouraging your child to speak up if something does not feel right.

• Helping your child identify trusted adults at home, school, and in the community.
