Rugby news!

We have entered two boys’ teams into the N.R.L. rugby 9s competition at Greaves Reserve in Dandenong.  An under 16 and 18 team.  Unfortunately, the under 16 girls’ team was not entered by the deadline because of lack of numbers.  New tops and shorts have been ordered.  New rugby balls and mouthguards are on the way.  Training this week will be held on Thursday 22nd at lunchtime with Mr McKintosh, on the oval.

Badminton Champions

The intermediate girls and boys defeated  the best teams in the Kingston District to blow the opposition away.’   The boys defeated McKinnon in a final and they were led by Hendrix and they were much stronger.  After last years’ loss, the boys trained harder and they had a steely determination to win.  The girls were fantastic as well.  The team was very young, but Sofia Ho and Muy Hour stood tall and powered their way to top of the group.

Intermediate Boys Soccer

On Thursday 15th May, the Westall SC Intermediate Boys Soccer team competed in the Kingston Round Robin, competing against the best schools in our division. The boys received a tough draw coming up against other schools’ squads that were stacked with club level players. Our boys represented the school with great pride displaying great determination and passion across the day.

Our results indicate how competitive we were all day and the boys should be very proud of what they all achieved together.

Game 1 Westall SC 1-2 Bentleigh SC (Bentleigh Scoring in the last few minutes).

Game 2 Westall SC 2-6 Parkdale SC

Game 3 Westall SC 1-2 Beaumaris SC

Game 4 Westall SC 2- 3 Sandringham SC (Sandringham scoring on the last second after we dominated possession all second half but could find a winner).

Game 5 Westall SC 4-1 Mordialloc SC (We saved our best performance to last where we absolutely dominated the game).

Memorable mentions go to all our goal scorers and especially Yulan who scored a hat trick in the last game and ended the day with 4 goals. Other goal scorers were Adeola, Sopheara x2, O’waie (with a perfect rendition of Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal celebration of the Siuu), Tawheed with the sealer against Mordialloc, and lastly Sakada with a well taken penalty.

In defence, we had Danny and Rehan holding up the last line. Great saves and barking orders from our captain, the keeper, Hakeem. Naif and Adeola ran all day. Mazen and Ferdaws injected x factor when they came on. Sulo, Falah and Harmanpreet were as solid as a rock in defence also. While John played the ultimate team player by defending well and then finishing the day in attack for us.

Overall, it was a fantastic day to be apart of and we would like to thank our year 12 student coach, Lucas for everything he did for us as well.

‘On Tuesday 13th May, my school had an event that called ‘Westall Cross Country’. We ran out around the school and all students in school had to take part in the event. However, all students didn’t run in once time, we divided in different run’s time.  The Westall Cross Country happened at soccer field and run straight out of the gate to start the race. The boys in Years 7,8,9 must run 3 rounds, only the boys in Year 10 must run 5 rounds. The girls from Years 7 to 10 ran around 3 rounds. In the road of the race has a teacher on one corner to care about safety of the students. They also cheer up the students. Years 7 and 8, they ran in the morning and Years 9 and 10 ran in the afternoon. Luckily, the weather that day was nice-sunny but not too hot.’  (Vy)
