Middle School

 Ms Michelle Collins

What another great to start to the term we have had in Middle School! We hope all Middle School students have taken on board the feedback regarding their strengths and areas for improvement, as communicated in the Term One reports and during the parent-teacher interviews. Everyone has areas they can further develop, and by taking the time to reflect on possible changes, the results we strive for will surely follow.

A reminder that the weather is getting cooler, and the students should now be in full winter uniform. If you have any issues with purchasing the uniform items, please reach out to your child’s Year Level Coordinator.

Term 2 is full of exciting events and activities in Middle School. The Year 9s and 10s have recently been on excursions to enhance their learning, participated in cross country, explored future career pathways at the Careers Expo and competed against other schools in round robin sport.

Coming up, Year 9’s will have their one on one Morrisby interviews to discuss possible career pathways, as well as their alternative program, ‘Future You Week’, in Week 11. Year 10 students will have their Year 10 Work Experience program in Week 11 which teaches them vital skills for participating in the workforce in the future.

Keep up the great work and stay warm!

Year 10 Work Experience

A reminder that Year 10 Work Experience will run from Monday 30th June until Friday 4th July which is the last week of Term 2. Students will be required to make their own way to and from their chosen place of work. We hope all of our students take advantage of this opportunity to gain some work skills for their future. If you have any questions regarding Work Experience, please contact the Careers Coordinator.

Year 9 Shrine Excursion

As part of their study of World War I, our Year 9 students recently visited the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne. This powerful and reflective experience gave students a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by Australian servicemen and women, while connecting directly with the themes explored in the classroom.

Students were provided with a comprehensive tour by Mr Graewolfe and they had a chance to explore the Galleries of Remembrance and the Sanctuary. The students had the opportunity to view personal artefacts, letters from soldiers, and hear stories of bravery and resilience that brought history to life. Thanks to Ryan Seang in Year 9 for the great pictures!

Year 10 Holocaust Museum Excursion

Our Year 10 students recently visited the Melbourne Holocaust Museum as part of their Humanities studies. This important and moving excursion deepened their understanding of the Holocaust and its lasting impact on individuals, families, and communities.

Students engaged with powerful exhibits, personal testimonies, and historical artefacts that told the stories of survivors and victims of Nazi persecution. A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to hear from a Holocaust survivor, whose personal account provided a deeply human perspective on the historical events students have been studying. We commend our students for the empathy and respect they showed throughout the day.

Year 9/10 Wellbeing Day

Our recent Middle School Wellbeing Day was a great success. Students engaged with a balanced mix of educational and fun activities designed to support their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. Throughout the day, students rotated through a range of engaging sessions. They attended a powerful presentation by the Pat Cronin Foundation, learning about the consequences of violence and the importance of respectful decision-making. In the Digital Thumbprint session, students explored key aspects of cyber safety and responsible online behaviour. Adding a sense of fun and movement to the day, students also took part in a high-energy silent disco and tackled a Ninja Warrior-style obstacle course. The day was a great opportunity for students to learn, connect, and enjoy themselves in a supportive environment.

Thanks to the teams from ProActivity, the Pat Cronin Foundation, Silent Sounds and Optus Digital Thumbprint for their involvement on the day.
