Kitchen Garden

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who have been keeping our Kitchen Garden garden watered and loved over the summer holidays & into term 1. It is much appreciated & has ensured we’ve got a garden full of vegetables and herbs for the classes to use. Big thanks to Vicky, one of our grade 5/6 teachers, and Camilla, Helen, Janine, Josie & Nick, Kath, Marika, Sarrah, Stephanie.

Unfortunately Simone broke a rib over the school holidays, so we can’t start Kitchen Garden classes just yet. But we’re both looking forward to getting kids out into the garden and into the kitchen as soon as she’s all better.

In the meantime, check out the progress of some planting that was done in term 4 2025. With our last class we planted some corn, beans, pumpkin and sunflowers. The height of the plants was measured when they went in, then in the last week of term and will be done with the first class this term. We will draw up a chart to display, to see how they’ve grown & what areas of the garden (shady or sunny) have worked best for what plants. They’re looking amazing!

We are always on the lookout for volunteers for the Kitchen Garden program. If you have some time to spare & can help out in the garden or kitchen Thursdays or Fridays 11.20am – 3pm, we can always use extra pairs of hands. If you or a relative (grandparents, aunts, uncles are welcome too!) are interested, please email Simone at simone.taylor@education.vic.gov.au

We are continuing to accept donations of eggs shells and coffee grounds. Please rinse the eggshells to remove any remaining egg, otherwise they go mouldy and can’t be used.

Simone & Jill.
