Notes from the Principal

Dream City Excursion

On Monday 11th May our Years 3-5 students travelled to Casterton Primary to take part in the Dream City experience. Dream City provide hands on activities for students to explore the world of STEM and learn about career paths in these fields. The Year 3-5 students combined with students in Years 3-6 from Coleraine, Casterton and Merino Primary Schools. They had a go at some electrical engineering, robotics and virtual reality.  Then, on Tuesday 12th May, our F-2 students travelled to Coleraine Primary for their turn. They had a go at robotics, virtual reality and took care of robot babies in a neonatal nursery.

By all accounts, everyone had a great time. It was a great opportunity to mix with students from other schools, and Dream City put on a great experience.

Book Fair

We hope our students and families enjoyed the opportunity to visit our Scholastic Book Fair last week. There were lots of beautiful books available for purchase, and Scholastic donated $110 worth of books to our library.

Cross Country in Warrnambool

Maddie, Ivy & Sybil competed at the Cross Country in Warrnambool on Friday 15th May. The girls all tried their best and we are very proud of them for showing our school value of dedication.  Thank you to the parents for taking time out of their day to take them to the event.

Hot Lunches

As the weather is starting to cool down students are welcome to bring in a lunch that can be heated up in the microwave each Wednesday.  Students are not to bring in any food that requires cooking in any other way. Microwave only please.

Runner’s Club

Everyone in our school will be participating in Runner’s Club every Tuesday and Friday morning from 8:50-9am.

All students have a Runner’s Club card on which they have their laps recorded.

Please ensure your children are wearing suitable footwear for running on these days.

If anyone from our community would like to join in, they are very welcome.

Hamilton Eisteddfod

The Music Eisteddfod is coming up very quickly! We will be competing on Thursday 4th June. We are very grateful to Mrs Heather Macgugan who has been joining in for choir rehearsals, accompanying us on the piano.

Please ensure that your child has winter uniform ready to wear on the day.

Watch this space – we will need some volunteers to help transport instruments to and from the venue.

Senior Camp - Silverband Lodge, Halls Gap

This year, from Monday 14th-Wednesday 15th September, our students in Years 3-5 will travel to Silverband Lodge at Hall Gap for Camp. Silverband Lodge is an adventure camp, so we may be taking part in some cool activities such as abseiling, mini golf, canoeing, bush cooking, obstacle course and many more. I encourage you to visit their website and have a look. Cost will be around $380 per student. The bus will be subsidised using fundraising funds (thank you School Council and Parents Club).  Students can access any leftover School Saving Bonus funds or CSEF funds they have available to pay for camp. Tammy will communicate with families about payment once costs have been finalised.
