Senior Choir at the Monash Youth Music Festival
On Monday the 11th of August the Senior Choir entered the Monash Youth Music Festival. This annual Eisteddfod draws well over a thousand young musicians from all over Melbourne to compete in over forty events including Ensemble and Choral competitions, solo competitions and non-competitive music events.
The Senior Choir entered the Primary School Choral section where they competed against other choirs and were adjudicated by Jenny Mathers, a professional choral conductor. We worked very hard on two complex choral pieces for a number of weeks in the lead up to the event and are extremely proud of our result - placing 1st!
This was a first for St Cecilia's as well as myself as a choral director. It was a wonderful and memorable morning for our choir and a fantastic result that reflects the hard work and dedication everyone put into rehearsing and performing and I could not be more proud of all involved.
I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Gabriel(2B) on placing 3rd in both the Monash Youth Music Festival and the Boroondara Eisteddfod. The piano sections of these Eisteddfods are highly competitive and require very skilled performances. Congratulations Gabriel on all your hard work and passion, we are allvery proud of you!
