Growing Our Learning!
Grade 1 students have been busy putting their learning into action! After reading From Seed to Plant by Gail Gibbons and learning about what plants need to survive and grow, students had the exciting opportunity to plant their very own seeds.
Using their knowledge of seeds and how they grow, students carefully followed the planting process. They filled their pots with soil, made a small hole, planted and covered their seeds, and finally gave them some water.
As we planted, students practised using sequencing words such as first, next, then and finally to explain each step. Afterwards, they drew and wrote about their planting experience, combining their science knowledge with their developing recount-writing skills.
We are now eagerly watching our plants change and grow!
A huge thank you to Bunnings Clyde North for donating the pots, seeds and peat moss for our students to have this hands-on experience and turn their learning into real-life.
