Food Tech

We have been very busy in Food Tech over the past few weeks! Our students have been learning new cooking skills, exploring different foods and discovering the stories, cultures and processes behind the dishes we make.
We started by making Crispy Rice Patties, where students practised their food preparation skills while creating these delicious treats.
Next, we made Bumblebee Cakes, inspired by the Hummingbird Cake. Students learnt about the origins of this famous cake and discovered that it originated in Jamaica. They also explored how the cake got its interesting name.
We then made Chickpea Stew (Lablabi). Students learnt about this traditional Turkish stew and explored the ingredients, flavours and cultural traditions behind this dish.
This week, we made Coconut Jam Drop Biscuits! Alongside baking, students will be learning about how jam is made, exploring the process of turning fruit into the jam we use in our cooking.
Next week, we will be making Lentil Veggie Rolls and finishing off the term with a week of revision, where students will have the opportunity to revisit and consolidate the cooking skills and knowledge they have developed throughout the term.
