Well, the grade 5/6 cohort have certainly had an incredibly fast paces start to the term. We've had lots of ups and downs, including the mourning of our teacher, colleague and friend, Leanne Pettigrove, may she rest in peace. If any students are struggling with this news and the school can help in any way, please reach out. There are resources that we can utilise for this purpose.

Despite having 2 full weeks of school, we have really only had 4 regular days of learning, with all the events and exciting moments the Grade 5/6 students have been involved in.

Inter school sports

We had a fantastic day at the interschool sports.

Basketball A - runners up

Basketball B - Semi Finals

Volleyball and Softball had lots of fun and displayed fantastic sportsmanship.

Find out more in the specialist report.

Colour Run

Ms. Wahl and Mr. Barwick were great sports and got slimed ahead of our colour run (and Miss Thomas from Prep/1). Thanks for all those community members that donated.

Athletics

Grade 5&6 students displayed their excellent leadership ability during the house sports day, as house captains. They were wonderful helpers for assisting the junior students with their pins and ribbons and helped create an incredibly positive atmosphere.

Drouin Secondary Discovery Day

The Grade 6 students had a great day exploring the facilities at DSC. In the morning they completed an artwork that demonstrated the various elements of art (line, sound, etc). following this they had sport in the Lyn Kelly stadium. After recess, students went to the food technology room and decorated biscuits (yum!).

At the end of the day, the DSC drama class gave us their first performance of their musical. It was a fantastic show.

Upcoming plays!

Exciting news. We are doing text studies on plays in English at the moment and we will be performing them later this term. Keep your eyes posted for news on exactly when! Students have responded well and are excited for the process, learning and inevitable performance.

Maths

Students have been learning about area and perimeter in the first few weeks of school. It is great to see that many students have had the 'ah-ha!' moment in class and are finding this work rewarding.

Mr. Rennie would like to thank the school community for the messages of support that have been shared during this difficult time.

Additionally, the support for the greater community, including other local primary schools and Bunyip Primary's zoned high school, Drouin Secondary, who have looked after many of our past students during this time with care and compassion.
