Health and Physical Education

We have another big term of sport coming up at BRPS with the House Cross Country event taking place on the school oval from 9am-11am on Wednesday May 13. This is a whole school event with every year level having a go at the following age specific distances:
- Foundation - 500m
- Year 1/2 - 800m
- Year 3 - 1100m
- 10 year olds - 2000m
- 11/12/13 year olds - 3000m
While there are many students who will aim high during their races, all students are encouraged to demonstrate the school values of integrity, respect, kindness and aspiration while also showing resilience, determination and house spirit!
Runners that place in the top 12 in each age category will qualify to make it to the District event which will be held at Dendy Park on Wednesday May 20.

Freddie G (5/6D) enjoyed an outstanding Easter break, competing at MSAC in both the Australian Junior Open and the Oceania Championships (U11). Against a strong international field of over 500 entrants, Freddie reached the finals of both events, finishing runner-up in each. He was one of only three Victorians to achieve this and narrowly missed the Oceania title in a thrilling 3–2 final.
Freddie is now ranked the number one U11 player in Australia, a remarkable achievement given he does not turn 11 until November. He has also recently been signed by Dunlop as a sponsored athlete and selected in Squash Australia’s Next Gen National Squad.
Congratulations to Freddie on this awesome achievement!
Penny H (2A) recently competed at the Equestrian Interschool State Championships at Boneo Park with her pony, Pepper. She performed strongly in the show horse events, placing 6th overall in a competitive field of 15 riders from Years 2–6. Penny also competed in dressage, showing great resilience in challenging weather conditions, and finished 7th overall. Across the entire competition, Penny placed 26th out of 142 primary school riders, an excellent achievement.
