Welcome back to Term Two!

We don’t have much student work to share this week, as we have been busy creating top-secret Mother’s Day gifts for the very special people in our lives.

However, it is our pleasure to share our final Neurodiversity Week artwork — a piece we have all worked on together.

We hope you love this artwork as much as we do.

It is a beautiful celebration and reflection of our school community — individual, creative, and connected — and will be on display in the office over the coming weeks.

Neurodiversity Celebration Week Artwork Collaboration- The Process

To begin our whole-school artwork, we needed a strong and meaningful concept. A brain/heart design felt like the perfect starting point — representing both how we think and how we connect.

From there, we used digital tools to carefully map out the design, ensuring there was space for every student to contribute. The final image was projected across two large canvases, allowing us to bring the idea to life on a grand scale.

We spent time thoughtfully considering the message we wanted to share. It was important that the artwork celebrated individuality, while also reflecting the strength of our community — many different ways of thinking, all coming together as one.

Students were then invited to choose their own space within the design. They could draw a pattern, create a picture, or fill their section with a block colour that represented them. Each contribution is unique, just like the students themselves, and together they form something truly special.

Once every section was complete, we turned our attention to the background. Throughout the year, we have explored the concept of balance in the art room, so a calm, peaceful wave was chosen to sit behind the vibrant and energetic heart — bringing a sense of harmony to the final piece.
