Connecting Youth with Nature

Building Practical Navigation Skills
Last week, our students had the enriching opportunity to participate in the ‘Connecting Youth with Nature’ program, an initiative designed to encourage young people to step away from the traditional classroom setting and engage with the natural environment.
During the program, students took part in a range of hands-on activities that taught them how to effectively use a compass, interpret and read various types of maps, and accurately locate coordinates. These practical skills not only enhanced their understanding of outdoor navigation but also promoted critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities as they collaborated to complete challenges.
Beyond the technical skills, programs like ‘Connecting Youth with Nature’ play a crucial role in connecting young people to the environment, encouraging them to embrace challenges, build self-confidence, and discover new interests and talents. This kind of experiential learning supports personal growth and helps cultivate a lifelong respect for our natural world.
