On Friday 12 June, Gibney Hall was once again filled with music as it hosted the Junior School Music Night, the second of three major music concerts this Term.

The evening featured an array of outstanding performances from our youngest musicians, delighting a full house of proud families and friends. The Junior Concert Band opened the night with the energetic piece, Dance of the Jabberwocky, followed by a strong performance from the Junior String Ensemble, a lively set from the Junior Chamber String Ensemble and a wonderful showcase by the Year 5 Double Bass Trio.

The vocal program included the charming performances from the Year 4 Choir, who sang in comradery The Good Ship Friendship, while the Year 5/6 Choir presented two contrasting works that demonstrated their growing musical maturity. The evening concluded with a captivating performance by the Junior Vocal Ensemble, who brought the concert to a close with a beautiful rendition of Black and Gold.

A sincere thank you to the Junior School staff who gave their time to attend and support the evening, and to the wonderful members of the Friends of Performing Arts for their hospitality. Special thanks also to the dedicated music staff for their preparation and guidance in helping our young musicians achieve such a successful performance. Congratulations to all the students involved.

This week, Year 4 students delighted families and friends with their first Strings Concert. The young performers were excited to showcase their newfound skills on violin, viola, cello, and double bass. From confidently holding their instruments to plucking notes and manoeuvring their bows with finesse, their excitement for music was evident.

Thank you to all that attended and to our passionate music tutors for encouraging their passion for music! We look forward to witnessing their continued growth and development in their musical journey.
