Whittlesea Primary School saw a touch of yellow on Thursday to recognise R U OK? Day.
R U OK? Day is a wonderful reminder that a simple question can make a big difference. While our students might be young, they are never too young to learn how to notice when someone might need a little extra support, check in with a friend, and let others know when they need help too.
Throughout the day, we encouraged our students to think about the people around them and remember that asking “Are you OK?” is a great way to start a conversation. Sometimes, being a good friend is as simple as sitting with someone, inviting them to play, listening to what they have to say, or letting a trusted adult know that someone might need some extra support.
We also reminded our students that it is OK to have big feelings, tricky days and times when we don't feel quite ourselves. We don't have to solve everything on our own, there are always people who care and who are ready to listen.
A big thank you to our wonderful WPS community for adding a little sunshine to the day by wearing a touch of yellow.
Let’s keep the conversation going beyond R U OK? Day and continue to look out for one another, because a small question, a kind word or a helping hand can make someone’s day a little brighter.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
I hope you all get to enjoy the sunshine with your loved ones.
