The 15th Annual Armidale Bridge Walk will take place on Sunday 31st May 2026
at the picnic area near the Armidale Information Centre. This walk commemorates the original Sydney Harbour Bridge Reconciliation Walk initiated in 2000, when 300,000 people walked in support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and reconciliation within our society. After this year’s walk across Stephens Bridge and circuit of the park, we will gather for entertainment and short speeches. A free barbecue lunch of sausages and vegetarian options will be provided along with tea and coffee.
As in previous years, ANTaR Armidale would be delighted if you and your students could participate in this event along with other schools in the area. We are hoping that students could design a banner (based on the national theme) to bring to the event which could be carried at the Bridge Walk by school captains or other representatives.
The national theme for Reconciliation Week 2026 is ALL IN and is a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. The theme also reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity and is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.
We are keen for all schools to Save the Date so that we can have as many students as possible participating in this important local event.
We really hope that you can join us.
We are seeking any students who may want to play soccer and have not yet found a club to play with.
We would be truly grateful if this could be a possibility.
Thanks again so much and any questions please don’t hesitate to contact myself.
