Parking and School Crossings

đźš— Parking Reminder for Families and Carers

As our school does not have designated parking areas, we kindly ask all parents and carers to be mindful of where they park when collecting students at the end of the day.

Parking too close to street corners and intersections can significantly reduce visibility for local residents and other drivers turning into the street. This can create safety risks, particularly during busy afternoon pick-up times when traffic is heavier and students are leaving the school grounds.

To help keep everyone safe, please ensure you:

  • Avoid parking close to intersections and driveways
  • Leave clear sightlines for vehicles turning corners
  • Follow all local parking regulations and signage
  • Be mindful of our neighbours and their access to properties

Student safety is always our top priority, and we appreciate your support in helping to create a safe and respectful environment for our school community.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Message from School Crossings Geelong

Our School Crossing Supervisors have reported an increase in students riding their bikes across the road rather than dismounting before entering the crossing. This behaviour poses significant safety risks—not only to the students on bikes, but also to other pedestrians and the supervisors managing the crossing.

Riding through a crossing can lead to:

  • Reduced visibility and reaction time for both the student and approaching vehicles.
  • Loss of control, especially in wet weather or crowded crossing areas.
  • Increased risk of collisions with other students who are walking.
  • Confusion for drivers, who expect pedestrians—not cyclists—within the crossing space.

To maintain a safe and consistent environment across all school crossings, it is essential that all students dismount and walk their bikes across the road every time.

If you have any concerns or notice ongoing issues at your crossing, please contact School Crossings Administration on 5272 4138 or schoolcrossings@geelongcity.vic.gov.au. We are always happy to work with your school to provide additional support or education for students. Where necessary, and if we are having ongoing issues at particular crossings we might reach out to  arrange for a staff member or teacher to be present to help reinforce the message.

Thank you for your assistance in keeping our students safe and helping us maintain consistent practices across all sites.
