Student News SLC 7

Over term one, our class had an exciting time learning both inside and outside of the classroom. Students participated in a tennis excursion at the local tennis courts, where they practised coordination, teamwork, and having fun through physical activity. Back in the classroom, students also continued working on our cooking project, preparing drinks and learning about food preparation processes such as cutting, combining, pressing, and blending ingredients.

  • Yusuf really enjoyed the tennis excursion, especially practising hitting the ball. Yusuf also invited his classmates to attend the Pop-Up Café.
  • Mary worked carefully while cutting cake and blending drinks and said that the chocolate milkshake "tasted like the one from Macdonald’s". She also said that the mango juice was "too sour" and we decided to make different juices for our pop-up café.
  • Grace enjoyed scooping mango into the blender and pressing a switch to turn the blender on.
  • Steven also enjoyed being assisted to complete the switch adapted activities and joining in on discussions about menu planning and decorations.
  • Ryan's highlight was his surprise birthday celebration. During the preparation for the Pop-Up Café, Ryan also showed leadership by confidently reading the invitation message in front of other classes to invite them to our café.
  • Erica was focussed on the sequence of tasks to prepare for cooking and successfully arranged the steps in the correct order.
