Student News SLC 6

We’re excited to kick off a new chapter here in SLC6, welcoming new students and staff to our community. This year, we’ve embraced the ASDAN curriculum, which aims to help our students gain greater independence. Our modules include extending the students participation in exploring their community, completing group projects, and maximising independence in meal preparation. In our cooking sessions, students have stepped out of their comfort zones, trying new tasks such as pressing the blender switch while making smoothies and planning a pop-up cafe. We’ve even started brainstorming rhyming rap lyrics with help from our Music Therapist and Speech Pathologist, all tied into our music instrument module. Laughter fills the room as students enjoy these collaborative sessions!
Some highlights from SLC 6 students:
- Anastasia enjoyed "bouncing on the ball with a parachute."
- Deep said, "Great!" (referring to his Tennis excursion).
- Maryam said, "books." (referring to the election story she read from an interactive whiteboard).
- Sebastian said, "excursion.” (referring to his Tennis excursion).
- Saskia said “Lighthouse, truck.” (Naming the place she wants to go).
