Education

Over the coming weeks, Year 3 will be embarking on a journey to explore the Sacrament of Reconciliation through the ministry of Jesus as a teacher, healer and the Son of God. This unit focuses on the powerful theme of mercy - the idea that God’s love isn’t something we have to earn, but a gift that is always waiting for us.

Through the Parables of Mercy, such as the stories of the Prodigal Son and the Good Samaritan, students will see how Jesus went out of his way to welcome everyone, especially those who felt lost or marginalised.

Key themes include:

Relationship over rules: Discussions about how sin isn’t just breaking a rule, but a choice that can hurt our connection with God, ourselves and our community.

The gift of conscience: Students will learn how to listen to their inner voice - God’s voice within them - to help distinguish between honest mistakes and the deliberate choices that affect others.

The power of forgivenessThrough confession and contrition, they will learn how they receive God’s grace - a peace that heals our hearts and strengthens our entire school and church community.

The Body of Christ: The beautiful idea that we are all connected. Like a body, when one of us is hurting or makes a wrong turn, we all feel it; but when we find forgiveness, the whole community becomes stronger and more joyful.
