Cultural Diversity Week 2025
From Then to Now: 50 Years of Change, Connection & Community
This year’s Cultural Diversity Week was one to remember as Melton Secondary College proudly celebrated both our vibrant multicultural community and our school’s 50th anniversary.
The theme, “From Then to Now: 50 Years of Change, Connection and Community,” invited us to reflect on how far we’ve come not only as a school, but as a community that continues to embrace diversity, inclusion, and unity.
The week began with our Unity in Motion Day, where students teamed up with the ASPYA Foundation and Melbourne Victory for a day of soccer, basketball, and dance workshops, a powerful reminder that teamwork and connection transcend cultural boundaries.
Midweek, our staff shared authentic dishes from around the world, offering everyone a taste of the diverse traditions and stories that make our school unique.
Thursday’s Echoes of Culture Day brought the courtyard to life with a dazzling Bollywood dance and a traditional Chinese lion dance, filling the school with colour, rhythm, and celebration.
The library provided students with the opportunity to share some of their favourite recipes from home, that then became part of an MSC recipe book.
We wrapped up the week with Cultural Dress Day, where students and staff proudly wore outfits representing their heritage, creativity, and identity, a fitting finale that captured the true spirit of belonging.
Our Cultural Diversity Assembly featured inspiring speeches from our Community Mentors, student leaders, and Principal Ms. Sobey, as well as stunning performances from the Philippines and Samoa, showcasing the unity and pride that define our multicultural school.
Throughout the week, our community came together in a spirit of respect, learning, and joy, proving once again that at MSC, diversity is our strength.
Here’s 50 years of connection and community and many more years of celebrating who we are together.
