Book Week 2025

In Week 5 of Term 3, Melton Secondary College celebrated Book Week!
This year’s theme was “Book an Adventure” and encouraged us all to think of reading as an adventure in itself. Students were encouraged to take part in this year's Reading Challenge, which ends at the end of this week!
There were so many fun things to do and see, including a surprise staff dress-up day which saw Principals, Teachers and Education Support Staff dress up as beloved characters from the world of Where’s Wally to Harry Potter! It was so fun seeing students’ reactions to their otherwise professional-looking, teachers!
Staff also had the opportunity to offer book recommendations to students of books they love which are on display at the library.
On Monday, students had the chance to take part in a Scavenger Hunt for the chance to win a QBD Voucher! Students were given cryptic clues to guide them to various locations around the school. Each location had clues that pointed out a book character, which helped to spell out a secret code word. It was great seeing students working together during break times to figure out the clues. Well done to our winners! Junior students also had the opportunity to participate in Read Aloud sessions hosted by various staff members during recess and lunch. A makeshift fireplace and some bean bags provided the ultimate cozy corner for our listeners.
Students also had the opportunity to redesign book covers, create comic strips and character visuals and make their own bookmarks.
There was so much to do and see! A huge thank you to all our organisers and volunteers who made it so special.
