Dear Parents and Students

Congratulations

There are a few congratulations this week!!

Congratulations to Victoria Dang (Year 5/6K) who attended the National School Sports Championships on the Gold Coast last week in swimming.  Victoria came 2nd in the 100m backstroke, 3rd in the mixed medley, and 3rd in the girls medley.  Well done, we are so proud of your achievements.

Congratulations to our Yr 5/6 soccer team who have now progressed through to regionals. This is an amazing effort and we wish them all the best. Thank you to Gianni for volunteering to train them after school.

Congratulations to our Yr 4 girls who were runners up at the district basketball competition last week.

Congratulations to Sophie John 3/4M on the safe arrival of her brother Orion.

100 Days of school ( Prep)

WOW what a wonderful celebration in Prep yesterday. It's hard to believe that our Preps have been at school for  100 days!!  The day commenced with the Preps dressing up  and inviting their parents and extended family to watch them at assembly as well as interact with them in the classroom. There were lots and lots of photos being taking.  For the remainder of the day Miss Jackson planned a variety of different "100" activities for the students to participate in. The children definitely went home tired.

First Eucharist

Last Sunday many of our Yr 4 students celebrated the Sacrament of First Eucharist at the 10.30am mass. It was a beautiful ceremony and the church was overflowing with parishioners and extended family.  Fr Hoang and Fr Brendan both made it special for the children.  I know many were having celebrations afterwards. I trust these were wonderful family gatherings. Those children who did not make their First Eucharist last weekend will do so this weekend. We wish them all the best.  Thank you to Olivia, Lucy and Cecily who have prepared the children so beautiful for this special sacrament in conjunction with parents.

Richmond AFLW visit

Yesterday members of the Richmond AFLW team spoke with our Yr 5/6 students.  The players were very generous with their time and answered all the probing questions from our students. They provided great insight about how they prepare, and the commitment they make to play football at the highest level. The players were wonderful representatives for the Richmond football club.

Next week members of the Richmond AFL side will also speak with our students.

Reminders

Just a few reminders for our community.

No children are to play basketball soccer or ball games till after the second bell at 3.45pm.

Children are to walk their bikes and scooters out of the school yard.

I ask if your child is playing on the equipment after school you are there to supervise.

Major Fundraiser ( repeat)

Our Major Fundraiser is quickly approaching!! The PA have done an amazing job of putting the night together. It promises to be a night of fun and laughter.   If you have not bought your tickets yet, I ask that you do so ASAP, so that we can open up ticket sales to previous members of the OLGC community.
