Prep News
In Prep, we were very excited to celebrate being at school for 100 days. It was a wonderful day full of fun and celebrations. In English we focused on reading our speaking parts for the assembly and concentrated on voice projection, fluency and expression. We had lots of fun writing about 100 days and describing the different activities we participated in. Hanging out with our buddies was a highlight!
In Maths we enjoyed practicing our one to one correspondence, when counting our collections of 100 and looking at different patterns we could use to count up to 100.
Our InquiRE focus has been on navigating devices to create simple coding using junior apps. We have learnt about the Eucharist, as year 4 students prepare to make this sacrament and we are learning about Australia’s only saint, Mary MacKillop.
The term has been very busy and lots of fun and we look forward to getting ready for our musical with lots of dance practice.
1/2s News:
Mathematics:
Students have been actively learning about money by practicing how to identify various coins and notes and how to add them together or calculate the change in practical situations. This includes using play money or digital tools to simulate real-life transactions. Additionally, they have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes, focusing on recognising and describing different features such as sides, angles, and vertices. This helps them understand spatial relationships and geometry in everyday contexts.
Literacy:
In Literacy, 1/2s have been exploring poetry by analysing a range of nursery rhymes, which has helped them understand rhythm, rhyme schemes, and expressive language. Students have been practicing these concepts by creating their own poems, experimenting with different patterns.
InquiRE:
Students have been using iPads to explore different apps for creating Olympic mascots, experimenting with digital drawing and design tools. They’ve learned how to utilise features like brushes, colours, and shapes to develop their unique mascots. This hands-on activity enhances their creativity and digital skills while engaging them in the artistic process.
