FROM FOOD SCRAPS TO FERTILISER || Our Year 11 VCE Vocational Major students have been busy transforming food scraps from our school kitchen into Beauy Fertiliser as part of their Term 3 community enterprise project.
From producing and packaging the fertiliser to weighing each bag and preparing orders, students are developing practical skills in sustainability, teamwork, quality control and customer service while seeing the circular economy in action.
During a recent Personal Development Skills session, students used MapQuest to plan the most efficient route before delivering locally purchased orders. Yesterday, students also gifted samples of Beauy Fertiliser to the older adults participating in their Community Connections program, extending the connections they have been building throughout the term.
The project is already making an impact, with 31 bags sold. Every purchase supports authentic, hands-on learning while helping reduce waste and giving gardens a boost.
Beauy Fertiliser is still available for purchase for $8 per 1kg bag.

YEAR 12 HOUSE DEBATE & CORE MERITS|| Our Year 12 students put their debating skills to the test during GOAL today, going head-to-head in a special House vs House debate! Each House was assigned a statement and a side to argue before working together to research and develop their case. Three speakers were then selected to represent their House, with the winners decided by audience applause.
Southern (affirmative) defeated Waratah debating “It would be easier to fight 100 duck-sized horses than one horse-sized duck”, while Ricketts (negative) won against Beckett on “Dogs are better pets than cats”.
This set up a Southern v Ricketts finale, debating “All food can be categorised as either sandwich, soup, or salad”, with Southern (negative) ultimately taking out the win!
A big congratulations also to our Silver & Gold CORE Merit Award recipients (not all pictured), who were recognised for consistently demonstrating our CORE values of Curiosity, Optimism, Respect and Excellence. Well done to all!

YEAR 11 VM COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS || Learning went both ways at the latest session of our Year 11 VM Community Connections program, as students and local community members shared their skills and knowledge with one another.
Students learned a range of practical skills from community members, including sign language, sewing on a button, knitting, understanding stocks and using emergency apps that support independent living. In return, our students shared their own skills and knowledge, including restoring old photographs using AI, boxing skills, playing the guitar, exploring the benefits and uses of AI and manicures.
The session was another great opportunity to build connections across generations while learning from each other’s experiences and expertise.
