Welcome back to term 4; the last for our year 6 students. We hope they have a great term as we prepare them for the transition to secondary school.
Mathematics

We have continued to learn about measurement and have investigated mass, volume and capacity. We had a bit of fun measuring capacity with water, some different containers and some measuring jugs. We also learnt how to convert between different units of measurement for length, mass and capacity.
This week we started learning about algebra!!
Reading
Students continue to participate in the Literacy Circles program and at the same time, we are revising some important aspects of narrative writing such as plot, topic, theme and symbolism. We have enjoyed listening to some picture story books and looking for the elements we have been studying.
Writing
Alongside reading, we are revising elements of narrative writing. We have focused upon improving the way we describe characters, setting and develop the plot of a story. We are trying to up-level our work and add to it in any way we can to enhance our message. At the same time we have paid close attention to the punctuation we use and the way we use it. We have also tried to up-level our use of punctuation and ensure we have included a variety of sentence types from simple to complex.
Humanities
This term our work in humanities is about being a citizen and belonging to a community. Ourwork this term will include an Indigenous perspective.
Incursions
We were extremely lucky to enjoy two amazing shows last week, "Being Indy" and the Emerson school rock band. Everyone enjoyed both performances even though they were so different to each other!!
