Big Freeze | NAIDOC
The SRC team has contributed loads of work into creating more fun, inclusive events that are coming up in Term 3, Semester 2.
We have been working on The Big Freeze, in which students gather around the oval to witness their favourite teachers dressed in silly costumes go down a large slide with an iced water-filled bath awaiting for them! Year 12 students will also participate in the crazy event in honour for their final year at Cheltenham Secondary College.
The Big Freeze is an Australian-wide charity event founded by Neale Daniher AO, with the purpose to raise money for FightMND, an Australian leading independent foundation dedicated solely to fighting Motor Neurone disease (MND). It will be held on a Thursday in Term 3.
A free dress day with a theme has yet to be decided, and is going to be held on the same day as The Big Freeze to raise donations and funds. Please make sure to bring a $1 gold coin to contribute a donation to charity!
NAIDOC week will be held from July 13th to July 17th. NAIDOC week stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee, celebrated across Australia to recognise and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander’s history and culture. Events involving embracing Aboriginal culture and sharing knowledge about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders will be organised at our school during NAIDOC week.
