Student achievements

At Pilgrim School, we celebrate student success across a wide spectrum - academic achievement, personal growth, leadership, community contribution and creative expression.

In 2025, students demonstrated excellence in a variety of domains:

• Academic Enrichment:
  • Strong participation in national and state initiatives including NAPLAN (see below), Premier’s Reading Challenge (112 students participated with 8 receiving Hall of Fame medals), Premier’s Be Active Challenge, and the Oliphant Science Awards.
  • Dorothy, one of our Year 4 students was awarded a medal in the ICAS Digital Technologies competition - a wonderful individual achievement reflecting the quality of learning in this area. Multiple other students received Distinctions and Credits across ICAS Science, English, Maths and Digital Technologies competitions.
  • Dorothay and Stefan received Distinctions in the Australian Maths Competition (AMC), with several others receiving Credits.

  • Serve Projects in 2025 had a strong relational and intergenerational focus. Our Grandbuddies program continued to connect students with senior members of Seeds Church, while Year 1 and 2 students visited residents at Estia Aged Care on a weekly basis - building empathy, connection and a genuine spirit of service into the rhythms of school life.

     

• Leadership and Service:
  • Year 6 students again completed the Leaders Passport program, planning and running events including the much-loved Connection Café High Tea for parents and Bali Life stalls supporting community ad global awareness.
  • Sienna, a Year 5 student, initiated a Loud Shirt Day fundraiser, raising $1,401 for Can:Do4Kids supporting children with hearing loss.
  • Hannah, from Year 6, designed hearts for the Women's and Children's Hospital Foundation, which were sold as a fundraiser through Big W.
  • Student voice was active and visible through our Student Representative Council, Sports Captains, and Performing Arts Captains, with induction training provided early in the year to equip student leaders for their roles.

  • Year 6 Buddies continued to provide meaningful mentorship for Foundation students through shared activities and Bible presentations, nurturing connection across year levels.

     

• Creative Arts and Performance:
  • The whole-school musical Not Your Average Joe was a highlight of the 2025 calendar, with students from Foundation to Year 6 performing across two evening performances at Futures Church South - a wonderful showcase of talent, teamwork and creativity.
  • The Pilgrim Choir performed at a number of community venues throughout the year and earned third place at the Adelaide Choral Eisteddfod, held at the prestigious Elder Hall. Competing against two other schools in their division, our students performed with confidence and represented Pilgrim beautifully.

  • Students also contributed to the Campus Has Talent evening and the Campus Instrumental Night, reflecting the growing musical culture across our school community.

     

• Sporting Representation:
  • Students represented Pilgrim at SACSA Netball, Soccer, Basketball and Athletics carnivals, as well as Sapsasa Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country events.
  • Pilgrim School claimed the Division 3 Challenge Cup at the SACSA Athletics Carnival for the fourth consecutive year - an outstanding team achievement that speaks to the commitment and spirit of our students.
  • Our Year 5/6 boys team were undefeated during the SACSA Soccer Carnival until the grandfinal and finished second on the day.
  • Koah (Year 6) represented South Australia at the Australian Cross Country Championships held in Ballarat
  • Year 5/6 Aquatics and Foundation swimming programs continued to complement skill development across the school.
  • Pedal Prix racing continued to be enjoyed by Pilgrim students through their involvement as part of the wider Pedal Prix club - a great example of students pursuing passion and perseverance beyond the school gates.

NAPLAN 2025

Students in Years 3 and 5 completed the ‘National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy’ (NAPLAN) as required. Once again, Pilgrim School's results were a sourec of great encouragement, with our Year 3 and Year 5 students performing above both the South Australian and Australian averages across each of the assessed categories.
