Student, Parent and Staff Satisfaction

Students
Each of our home classes (from Year 1-6) elected student representatives for their class on our Student Representative Council (SRC). In addition, there were two Year 6 students elected to executive SRC positions to assist in leadership across the school.
This group met twice a term to discuss suggestions for improvement around the school and ways to support others through fundraising opportunities such as casual days.
Student ideas resulted in additional equipment for lunchtime use and some board games for classrooms.
Wellbeing and Engagement Survey
Each year, students in Years 4–6 participate in the Australian Wellbeing and Engagement Collection Survey, giving us valuable insight into how our students feel about themselves, their relationships, and their school community.
Overall picture
The 2025 results reflect a school community that students feel genuinely connected to and safe within. As our Wellbeing Coordinator notes, wellbeing and student engagement at Pilgrim School remains consistently positive. In reading the results of the survey, we celebrate real growth, acknowledge areas of focus, and respond with care and intention.
Engagement with school – genuine growth
This is the domain where Pilgrim School has the most direct influence, and the 2025 results are genuinely encouraging across nearly every measure.
One of the most pleasing improvements was in students reporting they have an important adult at school – rising from 70% to 81% rating high wellbeing in this area, with low wellbeing dropping from 30% to 19%. This reflects the relational investment our staff make every day.
Friendship and peer relationship indicators also improved consistently. Peer belonging rose from 48% to 66% high wellbeing, friendship intimacy from 61% to 71%, and positive results across physical, verbal, and cyberbullying measures all increased. School climate improved from 47% to 55% high wellbeing. These results reflect the impact of our Friendology program and the culture of respect and belonging we work hard to build and sustain.
Emotional wellbeing – a cohort in context
General emotional wellbeing is influenced by factors beyond school, and results naturally shift from cohort to cohort. This year, high wellbeing percentages moved into medium categories across most measures – with low wellbeing remaining largely stable.
Emotional regulation is an area of focus, through programs such as Zones of Regulation. Encouragingly, wellbeing literacy – students' ability to identify and talk about their own wellbeing – continued to improve.
Programs and the road ahead
Our Zones of Regulation program was re-implemented in full in 2025, directly targeting emotional regulation skills. Developing these capabilities takes time, and we anticipate that this sustained, consistent investment will be reflected in future survey cycles. Our Friendology program continues to bear fruit in the friendship and peer relationship data, affirming that we are focusing on the right areas.
Our goal remains unchanged: for every Pilgrim student to not only understand their own wellbeing, but to have the practical tools and trusted relationships to navigate life well.
