Ex-student Community Appeal - We would love your support!
Bronte, an ex-student of Wonga Park Primary School, is quite literally one in a billion.
Born with an extraordinarily rare genetic mutation, Bronte was diagnosed at just 9 years old with a juvenile form of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Today, at only 14, Bronte is the only diagnosed child in Australia living with this incredibly rare form of MND.
Most of us know something about the relentless nature of MND through the incredible work of Neale Daniher and FightMND.
But Bronte and her family are part of OUR community.
Bronte attended Burch Memorial Preschool and Wonga Park Primary School. Her family lives in Croydon, shops locally and loves this little corner of Melbourne that we all call home.
And right now, we'd love our community to rally around them.
🏡 OUR LITTLE PROJECT FOR BRONTE
Bronte is now 14 and, like any teenage girl, would absolutely love a bedroom that feels like her.
We want to help give her room a much-needed teenage makeover, but importantly, we also want to make it more comfortable and accessible for her wheelchair and changing needs.
Bronte's mum, Bronwyn, is a single mum and full-time carer who is currently unable to work. Her priority is, quite simply, looking after her children and meeting Bronte's ongoing needs.
So we're putting the call out to our wonderful Croydon and surrounding community.
You don't need to make a huge donation to make a difference.
💙 $2, $5, $20 or $50 helps.
💙 A Bunnings, Kmart or Target gift card helps.
💙 A few tins of paint or painting supplies help.
💙 Donating your trade, time or materials could make an enormous difference.
We're looking for help with:
• Paint and painting supplies (Lavender & Sage are her faves )
• Floating flooring to create a smooth, bump-free wheelchair transition from the hallway into Bronte's bedroom
• A wheelchair-accessible desk / beauty table suitable for a teenage girl
• Shelving for Bronte's much-loved bear collection 🧸
• A new wardrobe
• Trade help
• New bedding and decorative items to give the room a fresh teenage feel
• Help creating a small English-style garden outside Bronte's bedroom 🌷🌿
• Or perhaps you're a local business or tradie who can offer something we haven't even thought of!
Nothing is too small.
This isn't about one person or business doing everything. It's about lots of people doing one little thing each.
A painter might have a spare afternoon.
A flooring supplier might have suitable stock left from a job.
A cabinetmaker might be able to help with the wardrobe.
Someone else might simply shout Bronte a new doona cover.
Put all those little things together, and our community can create something pretty special for a beautiful local 14-year-old girl. 💙
💙 WANT TO HELP BRONTE & HER FAMILY DIRECTLY?
Bronte also has a GoFundMe to assist her family with the much bigger challenges ahead:

Please tag any local businesses, tradies, suppliers or community groups below who you think may be able to help.
And if you can't contribute, simply sharing this post into your local community groups could be the thing that connects us with someone who can.
Let's show Bronte and Bronwyn what the Croydon community can do when we get behind one of our own. 💙
Thank you. Every single offer of help is appreciated.
