Performing Arts

Welcome back to Term 4! It is another busy and exciting term in Performing Arts, with two major events ahead: our Beauty and the Beast JR. production on November 11 and 12, and our Christmas Carols on December 10.

Families with students involved in the production will receive further information by email this week, so please keep an eye on your inbox.

In the classroom…

Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students are continuing to work on songs from Beauty and the Beast JR., with a focus this week on learning and refining the choreography for the songs they will perform in the production.

Grade 3/4 students are beginning a new Dance unit. This week, they will explore how different body parts, shapes, levels and pathways can be used to create and develop movement.

Grade 5 students will have their final session working on their puppet video stories for their Prep buddies, bringing together the puppetry, storytelling and performance skills they developed last term.

Grade 6 students are beginning a new creative project where they will follow a creative process to develop a piece of work that showcases their existing skills or helps them develop a new skill in at least one area of the Performing Arts (Drama, Music, Dance). This week, students will be introduced to the project, explore possible ideas and begin preparing a creative pitch for their chosen work.
