The libraries at both campuses have continued to be busy as we approach the end of Term 2, with a range of displays, activities and reading initiatives encouraging students to discover the joy of books.
Recent displays have included World Ocean Week, featuring a creative collection of fictional biography book covers based on famous sea characters from books and film.
The libraries also marked Reconciliation Week with displays recognising National Sorry Day, Mabo Day and NAIDOC week, providing opportunities for students to reflect on important moments in Australia's history and our ongoing journey towards reconciliation.
In addition, displays celebrating Refugee Week encouraged students to consider the experiences and contributions of refugees within our community and around the world.
The Kildare Book Club continues to meet every second Thursday and is fostering a growing enthusiasm for reading and discussion among participating students. Building on this success, the library is currently working towards establishing a Brigidine Campus Book Club, as well as introducing a new House Points Reading Competition to further encourage recreational reading.
Students are also being encouraged to take part in both the Premier's Reading Challenge and Warm Winter Read, an initiative run by Public Libraries Victoria. These programs provide excellent opportunities for students to broaden their reading horizons and challenge themselves to explore new authors and genres.
A wide range of books, including many recent acquisitions, are currently on display in both libraries. Staff and students are warmly invited to visit, browse the shelves and discover their next great read as we head off on the term break.
