Sacrament of Reconciliation
Congratulation to our Year 3 students who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation this week!
Heavenly Father,
We lift up to You these precious children who have received
the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time.
Fill their hearts with Your peace and love
as they take this important step in their journey of faith.
Guide their minds and hearts to always examine their conscience.
Grant them the courage to be honest and the humility to seek forgiveness.
Strengthen them with the grace of this sacrament,
that they may grow closer to You
and strive to live a life of goodness and virtue.
Bless their families and teachers who have supported and
prepared them for this sacred moment.
May they continue to nurture these young souls in faith, hope, and love.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Year 10 Retreat
This week, our Year 10 students took part in a meaningful two-day retreat—an important opportunity for spiritual growth and faith formation. Retreat experiences like this offer students a valuable space to reflect deeply on their relationship with God, themselves, others, and the natural world.
The retreat is a key component of The Salvado Way, a journey of becoming people of peace, justice, and compassion by practicing patience, perseverance, prudence, and prayer. Centred on the theme “Vocation: I Am Called,” the retreat encouraged students to reflect on their personal callings and discern their future pathways—particularly relevant with Year 11 subject selections approaching.
Across the two days, students explored their vocation through service and spiritual activities. They participated in community outreach by planting trees in Jarrahdale, sorting donations at the St Vincent de Paul Warehouse, preparing sandwiches for hungry children through Eat Up!, and cooking meals for the Wandjoo Bidi homeless shelter. They also undertook a pilgrimage along the Camino Salvado, engaged in meaningful discussions with Fr Mark, and celebrated Mass together.
These experiences provided students with the chance to grow spiritually, embrace a Christ-like attitude, and live out Gospel values in tangible ways—putting their faith into action and deepening their understanding of their own calling.
A huge thank you to our College staff and Fr Mark for supporting our students over these two days. Thank you also to Somaya from EatUp! for teaching our students about the wonderful things the organisation does. Thank you also to Wendy from Peace Be Still for always welcoming our students so warmly when we come to walk the Camino Salvado. Special thanks to Henry Milner from St Joseph’s Camino Salvado for your help behind the scenes in preparing the Camino Salvado experience for our students.
Pyjama Day
“We must thank the Lord for the people who make themselves available to
listen to and support the poorest among us” – Pope Francis
Thank you to all College families for your support of Pyjama Day! As a College, we raised $1129.60 for LifeLink and collected a wonderful pile of blankets for SVDP! Blankets will be collected by a representative from the St Vincent De Paul Society on Friday 27 June at the Year 4 Assembly.
St Benedict - Patron Saint Feast Day (11 July)
In Week 10, we celebrate the Feast Day of St Benedict - one of our College's House Patrons.
St Benedict was a monk in Italy around 400-500AD. He is considered the 'Father of Monastic Life' as he established 'The Rule' - a plan for living a balanced, simple and prayerful life, revolving around 5 practices: prayer, work, study, hospitality and renewal - which many monasteries all over the world follow today. Bishop Rosendo Salvado was a monk from the Benedictine Order.
Prayer written by St. Benedict
Gracious and Holy Father,
give us the wisdom to discover You,
the intelligence to understand You,
the diligence to seek after You,
the patience to wait for You, eyes to behold You,
a heart to meditate upon You,
and a life to proclaim You.
Amen.

Pope Francis on the Importance of Rest
Wishing all of our Salvado Catholic College families a safe and restful holiday.
To truly rest, we need to return to the heart of things, and that requires stopping our activities and remaining in silence and prayer to help us stop focusing on all that we have done and need to do. Jesus always served others, but each day He would withdraw in prayer, in silence, in intimacy with the Father. His tender invitation – rest a while – should accompany us. Let us learn how to take a break, to turn off the mobile phone and look at one another, cultivate silence, to contemplate nature, to regenerate ourselves in dialogue with God. – Pope Francis 2021
Pope Francis' Monthly Prayer Intention
In June, we pray that the world might grow in compassion.
Let us pray that each one of us might find consolation in a personal relationship with Jesus, and from his Heart, learn to have compassion on the world.
