Book Week is not far away and to celebrate the school has booked the following authors to inspire staff and students by sharing the magic of their creative experiences. Details of each incursion will be communicated in due course.
The 2024 Children's Book Week theme; Reading is Magic, is a celebration of reading stories and the amazing power to transport minds.

Monday, August 19
Jane Godwin
Year Group: Foundation
Jane Godwin is a highly acclaimed author of over forty books for children, across all styles and ages. Her work is published internationally and she has received many commendations, including the Australian Book Industry Award (Picture Books), Queensland Premier's Award (Children's Books), the Aurealis Award and the Animal Welfare Award, and shortlistings in the CBC Book of the Year Awards, the Prime Minister’s Literary Award, the New South Wales State Literary Award (Patricia Wrightson Prize) the YABBA Awards, the Speech Pathology Awards, The Family Award for Children’s Books, and the Australian Book Industry Awards.

Dr Remi Kowalski
Open to all grades
Dr Remi Kowalski, a Clifton Hill PS parent, is a paediatric cardiologist with 15 years of experience who practices at the Royal Children’s Hospital. His book, All About the Heart, is the first in a non-fiction series by Berbay Books, authored by paediatric medical experts in their fields.

Lian Tanner
Year Group: 1 & 2
Lian Tanner has been dynamited while scuba diving and arrested while busking. She once spent a week in the jungles of Papua New Guinea, hunting for a Japanese soldier left over from the Second World War. Nowadays she lives by the beach in southern Tasmania.

Andrea Rowe
Year Group: 3 & 4
Andrea Rowe is a best-selling award-winning picture book author, freelance writer and nationally awarded writer of short stories, and late night book reader.
Her debut picture book Jetty Jumping, illustrated by Hannah Sommerville was awarded the 2022 CBCA Picture Book of the Year – Early Childhood. Sunday Skating was released in 2023.

Year Group: 5 & 6
Katrina Nannestad is a multi-award-winning Australian author. Her books include the CBCA-shortlisted We Are Wolves, The Girl Who Brought Mischief, The Travelling Bookshop series, The Girl, the Dog and the Writer series, the Olive of Groves series, the Red Dirt Diaries series, the Lottie Perkins series, and the historical novels Rabbit, Soldier, Angel, Thief, Waiting for the Storks and Silver Linings.
