Principal's message

Welcome to our latest newsletter.

It is hard to believe we are already in the final weeks of Term 2. The semester has certainly flown by, and it has been pleasing to see the growth students have made across both their learning and personal development since the beginning of the year.

This week, our staff will participate in our final professional learning session with James Dobson for the semester. Throughout Term 2, teachers have been working together to strengthen Mathematics teaching, with a particular focus on building student fluency, using daily reviews effectively and supporting students to develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. We have also had some professional learning sessions facilitated by department staff around the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model.

Following the session from James Dobson, we will be joining staff from Beeac Primary School for a shared professional learning meeting. Opportunities to collaborate with neighbouring schools allow us to share ideas, learn from one another and continue strengthening teaching and learning for our students.

Teachers are finalising assessments and preparing semester reports. Reports provide an opportunity to reflect on student progress, celebrate achievements and identify future learning goals.  I encourage families to take the time to discuss their child's report together and recognise the effort that has gone into their learning throughout the semester. We will be hosting parent teacher interviews in the first week back next term. Please book in for a time when these open on Compass to continue the conversation about learning.

There has been significant progress with our playground redevelopment. We are expecting the team to be finished on the playgound area by Thursday this week, with only some work on the courts still needing to be completed. We appreciate everyone's patience while these improvements are completed and look forward to students enjoying the finished spaces in the near future. Stay tuned for an official playground opening ceremony!

On the final day of term, we will be holding our Community Lunch and Alvie's Got Talent. These events are always a highlight and provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the end of a busy semester together. I am looking forward to seeing the performances from all of our students! Students interested in participating in Alvie's Got Talent are reminded that performances should be no longer than three minutes in duration.

Thank you to our students, staff and families for your ongoing contribution to our school community. We look forward to finishing the semester strongly and celebrating the many successes of the first half of the year.

We have a Facebook page - please be sure to follow us to see the adventures that happen at Alvie!

Bush Play Reminder 🌿

Please send a pair of named gumboots to school for your child.

These can remain at school and will allow students to participate fully in Bush Play activities throughout the year. A little mud is often part of the learning!

Warm regards
