Principal's News

It certainly felt like winter hit with a thud this week, it was very wet but it was nice to close out the week with some Friday afternoon sunshine. We have enjoyed a busy fortnight around the school and the newsletter is packed with information from our specialist teachers, our leadership team, our students, wellbeing leader, PFC, Fete Committee and Team Kids. When you put it like that, Caulfield Primary School is a busy little place at the moment. Thank you for taking a moment to read over our newsletter and supporting all the events and activities happening around our school. Enjoy the long weekend.

We had 4 students head off to the Divisional Cross Country last week and we are so proud of their efforts. Getting to this level is tough and you are racing against all the best distance runners from each sports district. Congratulations to Barnabas Z (Year 5) for finishing in 16th position, Jax S (Year 4) finishing in 25th place. Leo F (Year 4) - 5th place and Hudson S (Year 6) - 5th place will both move on and represent the school at the regional cross country championships. A huge achievement, well done to all four boys for their efforts on the day, we are all very proud of you.

Government Schools Principal Conference

Last week Morioka sensei and I attended the Victorian Government School Principals Conference. This annual conference provides principals with the opportunity to hear from a range of speakers on current education trends impacting our schools and the broader community. AI was a hot topic and particularly how quickly it is moving ahead. The Department acknowledged that they have been very cautious in their approach to AI, and that most schools, including our own, are already exploring how we can best use AI to benefit students. This is a rapidly moving area and schools are now beginning to collaborate on the delivery of AI that is purposeful, accurate, and enhances learning. This will be an area that will inform our practice over the coming years and there is no doubt that our students will be experimenting as well. Part of our role will be to provide students with the tools they need to ensure they use AI in a safe and productive manner.

In addition, the conference explored the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0 and it was reassuring to hear that the work done by the school so far is well and truly on the right track. Principals also heard from experts in student wellbeing and how we as a school system can work towards delivering support pathways to students and families in the future. It was a very valuable two days of professional learning with the opportunity to integrate much of this work back into our school.

Enrolments 2027

This term we have been super busy with running tours of Caulfield PS for prospective parents. Interest in our school is very healthy, and we often get good feedback from visitors who like our caring and friendly environment. We are currently taking Prep enrolments for 2027. If your child has a younger sibling due to start school in 2027, please see https://students.educationapps.vic.gov.au/s/ to complete a digital enrolment application.

Families need to submit their enrolments application by the end of July at the latest but we encourage any existing families to get onto it as soon as possible.  We look forward to getting to know our 2027 Prep students through the transition program in Term 4. We have one final Open Day for the year scheduled for Saturday 20th June with a number of remaining school tours available before we conclude Term 2.
