From the Head of Drama

Senior Production ‘As Hamlet Likes It’

Another year and another stunning production by the very talented BMGS students. I want to congratulate the students, both on stage and behind the scenes for their hard work and service to the life of our school.

 

These performances are a true collaboration. It all comes together because of the incredible teamwork.

 

There are a few important people to thank.

Year 7 Hosting Kindergarten to Year 2

On Friday 5th June, Year 7 will be hosting students from both the Springwood and Wentworth Falls campuses (K-2) for a Creative Arts Immersion Day. Our young guests will participate in Drama, Dance and Visual Arts workshops and then they will watch short plays created by Year 7 as part of our ‘Living Picture Books’ unit. Thank you to the JS for your willingness to collaborate. Thank you to our year 10 student volunteers and our fabulous tutors. Drama - Mrs Rebecca Matthews (Q Theatre), Dance – Ms Danie Evans and Visual Arts – Ms Catriona Secker and Mrs Marlene Plummer.

 

On another note, Stage 5 performed plays for Years 3 - 6 in Week 1 of the term. Here in Drama, we love working across all 3 campuses.

Year 11 – The Riff

Year 11 Drama are working with a professional director, Sean Luther- Hall currently to devise an original piece of theatre for the Q Theatre annual festival- The Riff.

 

Performances are on Friday 19th June – 12pm matinee (Stage 5 are going to watch) and a 7pm show for parents and the general public. I will post ticket details when I have them. Alternatively, parents can contact the Box Office at the Joan Sutherland PA Centre in Penrith.

Stage 5 Drama

Students are currently in the development and rehearsal stage of this year’s ATYP Intersection Festival. Titled, ‘Orbit’, students will be presenting their work for parents on Thursday 25 June @ 5pm in the PAC.

 

So, a very busy term.

 

On that note, I want to tell you that I will be taking long service leave in Weeks 1-5 next term. Mr Owen Laffin will be stepping into the Acting HOD Drama role. My classes will be covered by a very experienced Drama teacher, Ms Liz Barclay.
