Library

This term we have continued building our library collection with student voice playing an important role. Through student-led collection development, students have been sharing the books, authors and series they would love to see added to our shelves. Their suggestions help ensure our collection reflects the interests and reading passions of our school community.

We are excited to share that several recent additions have come directly from student requests, including new titles in some much-loved series:

Cat on the Run #3, suggested by Evan

Forever Fairies: Timi Shines Bright, suggested by Isabel

Wings of Fire: Talons of Power (graphic novel edition), requested by Eleanor

It has been wonderful to see students actively shaping what appears on our shelves and discovering new books through recommendations from their peers. Student suggestions remain a key part of how we grow and refresh our library collection, and students are always encouraged to keep their recommendations coming.

We are also excited to host the Scholastic Book Fair during our upcoming parent conference sessions this term in Week 9. The fair will be open in the library on Tuesday 30 June, Wednesday 1 July, and Thursday 2 July, giving families a chance to browse and purchase books while attending their conferences.

This year’s fair will be run by Scholastic and will feature books for purchase only. Please note that EFTPOS will be the only accepted payment method.

It’s a great opportunity for students to discover new reads and for families to support reading at home while visiting the school.

We are also looking forward to celebrating Book Week in Term 3, Week 5, beginning Monday 25 August. This is always a highlight of the school calendar, bringing a strong focus on reading, storytelling and a love of books across the school. Stay tuned for further details, including the date and time of our annual Book Week Parade, where students are invited to dress up as their favourite book characters and share in the excitement of the week.
