What We’ve Been Learning
It has certainly been a busy start to Term 4, and Christmas will be here before we know it! This week, we begin Bike Education, so a big thank you to all the families who have brought in bikes for the children to use. The children have also been enthusiastically completing their artwork and photography entries for the Warrion Flower Show.
Last week, we focused on developing our skills in reading both digital and analogue clocks, including quarter past, quarter to and telling the time to the minute. This week, we have been exploring decimals and making connections between decimals and the fractions we learned about earlier in the year.
We have begun reading our new class novel, The Wild Robot, which tells the story of Roz, a robot who washes up on an island and must learn to survive with the help of the animals. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the story so far! We have also been developing our understanding of appositives, dependent and independent clauses, and how to construct complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions.
Our focus for Term 4 is design and fibres. We have been exploring how products begin on farms and move through various stages of processing to become everyday items such as clothing, towels and other household products.
Last week, we explored how our differences make us unique and can be a strength within our community. This week, we have been learning about personal space and discussing ways to respect the space and boundaries of others.
We look forward to another wonderful week of learning and new experiences as we continue through Term 4. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and for helping make our classroom such a positive place to learn and grow. Enjoy the fortnight ahead!
