Principal's message

Three weeks into Term 4 already, and the school has a busy, settled feel. Students have come back ready to learn, and it has been lovely to see so much Respect, Responsibility and Grit in classrooms and in the yard.
We had our first Bike Ed session this week, and students and staff had an amazing time despite the hot weather. A frozen yoghurt before we started may have helped! This first session focused on getting to know each student’s riding ability, along with general bike awareness and safety. A special thank you to Tania Graham, who generously gave her time to check over student bikes and make sure each one was safe to ride. We really appreciate your help, Tania.
Our Grade 5/6 students have had a busy couple of weeks, taking part in Basketball and Tennis and heading to GMHBA Stadium for the BioCats excursion. Thank you to the staff and families who helped make these opportunities possible. Our students represented Alvie with Respect and Grit and should be very proud of themselves.
With warmer days arriving, please make sure your child brings their school hat every day. Our “no hat, play in the shade” rule is in place for the rest of the year, and a water bottle and sunscreen applied before school help too.
We are starting to plan for next year, including class structures and transition activities. If you know your child will not be returning to Alvie in 2027, or you have a younger child who may be joining us, please let the office know as soon as you can. It makes a big difference to our planning.
As always, my door is open. If you have a question, an idea or a concern, please come and see me or give the office a call.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Rowena Goldsmith
Principal
