Easter Celebration
Welcome back to school, it is a lovely time of year as we enjoy cooler, yet still warm days. In other places around the world spring has sprung and new life is coming forth after deep, cold and snowy winters. This new life in nature coincides with the celebration of a new life in Christ.
Several women over 2000 years ago, brave the early morning just as the first light is rising. These women go alone to anoint the dead body of their beloved friend Jesus who had died a torturous death just days earlier. A big stone, rolled over the entrance to the tomb will bar their way. They are determined to go nonetheless. What awaits them is news that will change not only their lives, but good news that will altar human history. "Christ is risen" exclaims the angels. Suffering and death no longer have the last word! Jesus comes to restore what was lost and open up a new path of light and love for all people.
To celebrate Easter we had a whole school Mass on Wednesday, followed by the "digging up of the Alleluia banner" that we had buried in the rose garden near the church at the beginning of Lent our 40 day period of preparation for Easter. As we dug up the "Alleluia" the church bell rang out, joining in with the angels proclamation that Jesus is risen and that we can receive the blessings of new life in him.
