Year 8 Coolamatong Farm Camp

Talent, Teamwork, and a Whole Lot of Laughter

Coolamatong Farm Camp was a time of building connection and learning more about our theme of “Love God, Love Yourself, Love Others”.

We participated in a range of community building activities such as 'Survivor', where students had to work together to successfully accomplish tasks. We also went on a full day canoeing journey where students, and some staff, were pushed out of their comfort zones. For many, the encouragement of others was what helped them complete this epic adventure.

The Coolamatong staff helped us unpack our theme. They emphasised how our love for others is a demonstration of our love for God. Some of the questions considered and discussed in small groups were, “How has Jesus loved us? How can we love others like that?”

Student highlights:

The survivor activity was a real highlight. It was pretty fun, especially the 'electric fence' we had to get our whole team over.

I liked the boat ride. It was very relaxing. It took us to Raymond Island where there were lots of koalas.

My highlight was definitely the food! The Mexican night was my favourite. I feel really proud for canoeing so far too.

The cocoa pops for breakfast with strawberry yoghurt was amazing. We played a game of pool noodle hockey which I enjoyed. It was very competitive.
